School Maintenance Worker
Position Summary: The School Maintenance Worker is responsible for helping maintain safe, clean, functional, and well-kept school facilities and grounds. This position performs routine maintenance, repairs, preventive maintenance, and facility support throughout the district.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform general repairs involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and other building systems within the employee's training and qualifications.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of district buildings, equipment, and facilities.
- Maintain school grounds, including mowing, trimming, landscaping, and debris removal as assigned.
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency facility needs.
- Safely operate and maintain tools, equipment, and district vehicles.
- Assist with preparation of facilities for school activities, athletic events, and special events.
- Follow all district safety procedures and applicable state and federal requirements.
- Report safety hazards, needed repairs, and facility concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor or Superintendent.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- General knowledge and experience in building maintenance, construction, or related trades preferred.
- Ability to perform physical labor, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and safely lift and move equipment and materials.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must meet all employment and background-check requirements established by the McGehee School District and Arkansas law.
